Organization and Financials
World Citizens London (worldcitizen, World Citizen) is a community association run by volunteers in London. World Citizens is a charity in England & Wales as per the Charities Act 2011 and is not required to be registered. All time and resources provided to World Citizens London are voluntary and uncompensated. Event space, logistics and marketing are typically made available for free by various ad hoc contributors or partner organizations. If there is a need to cover costs, these may be shared by the volunteers, guests or partners. Any balance raised will not be held as income, although liquidity cash of up to £4,000 may be kept as a reserve.
Conditions of Participation
As an unincorporated association, all participants of World Citizens London, including guests, volunteers, organizers, hosts and partners, participate and/or contribute at their own risk and are individually responsible for any damages they may cause. Thus, the association is excluded from any legal liability. To provide some context, the association has operated smoothly and problem-free since its foundation. The organizers and volunteers provide their free time to run the association’s events and their promotion, but, being mostly non-permanent contributors, all activity remains relatively informal and low-maintenance, bearing no effect of a business.
Video and Photography of Participants at Events
Video or photography may be taken at events that include participants/members (including guests, volunteers, organizers, hosts and partners), with the clear and obvious intention to promote the event on the website, social media and other marketing means. As per GDPR, this is a reasonable and legitimate interest for the organization, and it can be understood that participants/members at the event give consent when they allow video or photography of them to be taken. Nonetheless, any person may request to opt out, modify or remove themselves from any photo if they so desire by sending an email to worldcitizen.london@gmail.com
Data Protection
As a community association, we work with personal data in the same way as any other community that requires communication among its participants/members as well as to improve our marketing and promotion. We abide by the GDPR, and details of how we handle personal data online can be found on our Privacy Policy. Additional details of how we work with analytical tags (cookies) can be found on our Cookie Policy. In short, anyone who wishes to opt out, modify or remove personal data about themselves may request to do so by sending an email to worldcitizen.london@gmail.com
